Correas in Flower

When I had my stairs built down the side of the house the plan was to incorporate a grill so that the plants could grow up underneath it. I planted correa reflexa and waited. At last they are now almost at the point of poking through and it is lovely to see the small bell shaped flowers emerge.

When I opened the Tasmanian Bushland Garden near Orford earlier this year, I bought a local variety from Pulchella Nursery, a Coles Bay Compact variety which is now lost in the wild because of housing developments and it too is flowering with a small green bell shaped flower. It is really worth trying to grow rare varieties of plants in domestic gardens as it is one way we can all help stave off extinction.
