Water Feature Takes Shape

As I have mentioned before on this blog, this is the year of the water feature, oh, and the federal election as well.

All planned out, but can't wait to see the real thing!

I have wanted a decent pond or two for a very long time and I am now at the exciting stage of looking at plans. Catherine Shields is working on a design with riding instructions to have a solar pump, plenty of natives, boulders and habitat all around as well as the compulsory sound of running water. The only down side is that I have such a small garden that I cannot have a water feature and an annuals garden so the annuals and bulbs have to go. I will be enjoying grape hyacinths, polyanthus and ranunculars for the last time this winter and spring. I am also getting rid of the bits of grass that are an excuse for a lawn but I am not giving up on a camomile lawn…except that now it will be a patch or mat so to speak. Here is the initial drawing. I will keep you posted.

  1. The plan looks great Christine. We have a solar pump operating a birdbath/fountain and it is wonderful feeling watching the birds swimming, the water trickling down and knowing it is all powered by the free and clean solar energy!
