My Nellie Kelly passionfruit has been a pathetic vine ever since I planted it. It is always sick and yellow looking no matter what I do to look after it. So last year I made a last ditch effort and decided to grub it out if it failed to fruit.
Promise of a bumper harvest earlier this year...
I read all about passionfruit and subsequently fed it with chelated iron and seaweed fertiliser and amazingly, it responded. I have just had a prolific harvest and have thoroughly enjoyed eating, freezing and giving the fruit away. Chelated iron is the magic solution.

The other difficulty with passionfruit is that after a few years, the stock tries to take over. I missed it on mine, now I think it’s too late to save, but I’m going to give the chelated iron thing a go. One consolation when the stock does take over though: you get magnificent looking flowers (look up passionflower for the background behind the name).
